Selling Online in Cameroon: 6 Tips to Sell Fast and Safely
From the photo that sells to the safe handover, here is how to close a sale on Govoir without wasting time

Many listings sit for weeks without a reply. It is almost never a matter of luck: a listing that sells fast has a fair price, good photos, a clear title and a seller who replies. Here is the method in six steps.

1. Prepare the item
Clean it, test it and gather what comes with it: charger, box, receipt. These are selling points. For a phone, back up your data, sign out of your Apple or Google account and reset the device.
2. Set the right price
Look up the same item in your city on Govoir and price yourself around the average, adjusted for condition. Keep a 5 to 10% margin for bargaining and write "negotiable" if you are open to offers. Above all, avoid "price in inbox": without a visible amount, most buyers simply move on to the next listing.
3. Take good photos
The first photo decides the click. A smartphone is enough:
- daylight, no flash;
- a plain, uncluttered background;
- the whole item in the first photo, then the details;
- the flaws too: a scratch shown upfront reassures more than it scares.

4. Write a precise title
Use the words buyers actually type: item + brand and model + key feature + condition. For example: "iPhone 13, 128 GB, very good condition, battery 89%". Avoid "Must go!!!".
In the description, answer questions before they are asked: real condition, what is included, meetup or delivery. No need to repeat your city in the title: on Govoir, it already shows under the listing.
5. Reply fast
Buyers often contact several sellers at once. The first one to reply clearly wins. Turn on notifications in the Govoir app, reply within the hour and suggest a place and time right away:
"Yes, it is still available, with its box and charger. Can we meet tomorrow at 5 pm in front of the supermarket in Bonapriso?"
6. Secure the handover and payment
Meet in a busy public place, in daytime, and let the buyer check the item on the spot.
For payments by MTN Mobile Money or Orange Money, three habits:
- Check your balance yourself before handing over the item.
- An SMS or a screenshot is not proof: both are easy to fake.
- Never share your PIN.
Be wary of a buyer who says they "sent too much" and asks for the difference back: it is a classic scam.
